FOR STUDENTS

College STEM Internship Program

As part of Ohmsett's science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) outreach, we provide internship opportunities for college students pursuing course studies in engineering to work on cutting-edge projects along-side our staff scientists, engineers and technicians. Students develop skills that prepare them for the next step in their educational and professional career.

High Technology High School Mentorship Program

Ohmsett is proud to participate in High Technology High School's student mentorship program. High Technology High School, located in Lincroft, NJ, is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon specialized school concentrating on math, science, and technology.

In the mentorship program, a senior from High Tech High elects to intern at a company of their choice, where he or she receives high school credit for work done during that time.

Students who intern at Ohmsett gain an understanding of how the company works and learns about oil spill response and cleanup. The intern’s responsibilities vary depending on our schedule and may include helping document ongoing tests using digital still and digital video equipment, editing videos, preparing AutoCAD drawings, helping prepare PowerPoint presentations, assisting with our annual calibration checks, and performing Internet research and literature searches.

Students Learn About Oil Spill Cleanup at Ohmsett

To help student groups understand oil spill cleanup methods and equipment, and to see how tests are conducted at Ohmsett, we provide tours and presentations to students to middle school, high school, and university students, as well as to Scout troops and other organizations. They get a first-hand look at the science, engineering, and technical operations of the work that takes place on-site, and exposes them to the various career opportunities within the industry.
